About Us

The Avondale Arts Alliance is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operated by an all-volunteer board. Established in 2002, the Avondale Arts Alliance has been instrumental in numerous art activations, special events, programming and art installations throughout Avondale Estates.

We rely on funds raised from artwork sales, rentals, and the generous donations of our community to sustain our operations.

Meet the Team

  • Isadora Pennington

    President, Avondale Arts Alliance

    Founding Director, Avondale Arts Center

    Isadora Pennington is a photographer and arts journalist by trade, and a lifelong lover of art in all forms. She launched Sketchbook with Rough Draft Atlanta in 2022 and today works as Senior Editor of Art + Design and Dance for ArtsATL. Isadora joined the Avondale Arts Alliance board and took on the role of president in March of 2023.

  • Megan Milliken

    Vice President, Avondale Arts Alliance

    Megan is a lifelong creative who has spent her career in marketing technology and makes collage & mixed-media art in her free time. She's an Atlanta-area native, loves dogs, and is thrilled to be part of Avondale's thriving artist community.

  • Christy Costello

    Governance, Avondale Arts Alliance

    Christy has over 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, currently she serves as the Director of Finance and HR at the Children's Museum of Atlanta. Early in her career she worked seasonally in theater and balanced that by working in a gallery off season. Not an artist herself, she has always enjoyed working with artists and helping to make art happen.

  • Lay'Na Anderson

    Secretary, Avondale Arts Alliance

    Lay’Na is a Makeup Artist for Film and Television, as well as an Abstract and Fiber Artist. In 2021, she opened her studio at Little Tree Art Studios and takes pride in being part of the vibrant and growing art community in Avondale Estates. When she’s not creating, she enjoys traveling, savoring good food, and attending various exhibits.

  • Dustin Timbrook

    Dustin Timbrook is a multidisciplinary creative who makes everything from art, to film, to music, to board games. His newest body of work, under the signature TinTim, features vivid three dimensional illustrations crafted using colorful paper.

  • Jen Singh

    Jen Singh received a BFA from Kendall College of Art & Design (KCAD) 1991. Her journey began in freelance illustration, exhibit and graphic design and art direction. She's always been involved in her community and served in leadership roles in the Graphic Artists Guild and Avondale Arts Alliance for many years. For several years, Jen hosted an annual art and makers show out of her home and studio.

    In 2014, she opened a brick and mortar boutique, Garage Door Studio, in Avondale Estates, GA that features local art and makers. Presently, she sells her mixed media paintings and watercolors, leads workshops, curates the shop and mentors emerging artists.

  • Amy Wenk

    Amy Wenk is an Atlanta native and longtime reporter for Atlanta Business Chronicle, now working with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Her appreciation for the arts was fostered by her grandmother, a watercolor artist who exhibited in Atlanta. She enjoys photography, gardening and exploring Avondale Estates.

What is the Avondale Arts Alliance?

The Avondale Arts Alliance is a registered 501 (c) (3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting the arts in Avondale Estates.

We are a volunteer-run organization that works with the City of Avondale Estates as well as local businesses and artists to create unique, purposeful programming. Our mission is to create and cultivate a sense of community centered on art, to support local artists, and enrich the lives of those living and working in Avondale Estates.

What is the Avondale Arts Center?

The Avondale Arts Center, located at 84 N. Avondale Rd., Avondale Estates, GA 30002 is the headquarters of the Avondale Arts Alliance.

Predominantly a gallery, this multi-functional art space also has two workshops that are available for rent. More information can be found on the Avondale Arts Center page of our website.

When is the Avondale Arts Center open?

The Avondale Arts Center is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Avondale Estates Farmers Market. You can bring a drink and a snack from the market and come to see and make art with us.

We hope to add more hours soon, and will post about exhibitions and hours on Instagram when we can offer them.

Can I rent space at the Avondale Arts Center?

We do allow rentals of our space by the hour for workshops, mini exhibitions, and special events like birthdays and corporate luncheons.

How do I get more involved?

We are always seeking interested volunteers to assist with our open hours at the Avondale Arts Center as well as special events.

How long will the Avondale Arts Alliance have this building?

We have accepted a generous offer from the City of Avondale Estates Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to occupy our building until it is demolished at a future date, TBD.

It is our aim that we can build a successful business model which can be relocated and moved to a new home if and when that time comes.
