The Avondale Arts Alliance and Avondale Arts Center 2026 Social Media & Gallery Internship

The Avondale Arts Alliance is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Avondale Estates, Georgia. We currently operate a small arts center and gallery that produces roughly 6 major shows per year as well as workshops and smaller shows. We are active in our community and work with the city as well as local organizations and businesses to produce a variety of community events in support of the arts. This internship program will provide real, hands-on experience operating behind the scenes of a nonprofit art gallery and community center. Applicants must be 18+ years old.

Timeline: May 1 through December 31, 2026

Available Slots:

Stipend: $500 - paid via check in installments of $125 at the start of each major show in May, July, September, November.

Applicants must provide: cover letter, resume, three references, and links to social media posts as work samples sent via email to isadora (at) avondaleartsalliance.com with “Internship 2026” in the subject line. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with fellow intern to hang each major show (around 80-120 works) according to provided artwork layout (Avondale Arts Alliance will provide training)

  • Print and attach each art label to the wall with corresponding works

  • Create and share at least 2 social media posts per week 

  • Host gallery hours at least once per month to interact with the community and discuss the art

  • Attend opening and closing events as possible 

  • Assist with facility projects at least once a month (such as cleaning or organizing)

  • Check-in with the Avondale Arts Alliance President at least once a month

Opportunities:

The following are not requirements of the position but are opportunities available should the intern wish to gain those experiences. 

  • Manage the drop off and pick up of art work from shows

  • Build out the online Square Store for a major show

  • Contribute to website updates

  • Build and send regular mailchimp email

  • Attend community events

  • Attend board meetings

  • Have information interviews with board members

  • Host & teach a workshop at no cost 

  • Host one little gallery exhibition at no cost (at the end of internship term)

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with various social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook.

  • Understanding of Google Workspace and its tools

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Photography / videography

  • Math & spacial skills a bonus!
